Saturday in Bangalore - exploring

We have had so much fun today - 3 pm we got up at 6 - yes Jacquie I actually got up at 6am -thanks to Jacquie and Coco I have regular breakfasts of some kind of health bar from whole foods - as we generally cannot get easy access to food we feel confortable with until lunch. So off we went, we were going to meet Susie's friend from Hong Kong who was here on business - and take a walking tour of LalBugh Gardens - so beautiful. We started at this huge incredible rock - which has been dated as 3 Billion years old. To get there we take auto-rickshaws - or Tuk-Tuk's. Do you see the friendly gentleman behind us? This has been our experience with Indian people - so kind to us - always willing to help - most speak some english - many speak of course perfect english - of course better than my Hindi! So you are only a question away from help.
The tour we took was from www.bangalorewalks.com our new friend VR finding time on his hands, how I am not sure with his many interests and Director/Asia of a consulting company - but with a facination of botany he entranced our small group for 3 hours with the history of the trees of LalBagh intermingled with his love of history, people, religions and politics - I felt as if I took a college course in 3 hours. We then went to the famous since 1924 MTR's for breakfast lunch and with VR cut the line and were ushered to our private dining room. Rava Idli, with Masala Dosa followed by Gulab Jamun and Badam Halwa (almond paste sweet) - incredible! Susie and I stuck to water but there was grape juice from Bangalore Blue grapes and Buttermilk. Ahhh - satisfaction! We walked along the insanity of MG road - wow -what an experience of people watching! We are regularly watched, stared at and smiled at - with so many people I have never felt so safe and held - a wonderful place. At night of course things shift a bit - it was good last night to be out with our friends from Bangalore and Hong Kong and be in a group.

Hello Karen!

Marco from Ottawa, not quite as exotic as India. I am impressed by the names of the dishes you've been eating! Say hello to Suzie for me. You both look like you are having a great time.
